Bengali New Year Celebration: Bangladesh came alive in Guelph!

Although a belated celebration, it brought Bangladesh alive and a celebration of its kind in Guelph. Yes, The Bengali New Year 1432 celebration on May 10, 2025, was a joyous community gathering. Over 200 community members, guests, and dignitaries participated, and we are grateful for their friendships and continuous support.

There is a belief that it can be challenging to engage professional artists due to the limited abilities and small size of the community in a city like Guelph. As a result, we often rely on our local talents. With the creative minds and energy of the BCG animator team, we were able to host a wonderful cultural event that engaged both local talents and professional artists. The audience was captivated, staying from the beginning to the end of the program, which featured a creative stage decoration and lighting for a well-organized and thoughtful selection of songs, dances, poem recitations, and more. You can watch the video of the performances by clicking the link.

The Honorable MPP Mike Schreiner and newly elected MP Dominique O’Rourke attended the event, extending warm wishes to our community members. A traditional dinner was served, featuring a variety of ‘vorta’ and the national fish, Hilsha, which was highly appreciated by all. Additionally, the event included a ‘Boishakhi Mela’ where attendees could browse and enjoy Boishakhi finger foods, clothing, ornaments, and art.

The event was the result of teamwork, not just a few superstars on the team. Thank you to everyone for your support.

This event is an inspiration for us to consider more innovative, organized, and enjoyable events in the future.

Together, we aspire; together, we achieve and create an example for future community innovation!
