Guided Tour At College Royal

Bangladeshi Community of Guelph has organized a day long guided tour on 20 March 2016 at the College Royal Open house, University of Guelph – the largest university open house event of its kind in North America. We emphasize in creating extra-curricular learning opportunities for our children. We have received an enthusiastic responses from our community members. About 25 participants along with 15 children actively participated in the tour. Children enjoyed the event with tours to fun games, learning about animals, plants, environment, ice-cream making and attending at animal shows. None but our volunteers made this event a success. Thanks to all who participate in the program. We wish to organize more program of such for our children. 

 

Bengali New Year 1423 Celebration

Bangladeshi Community of Guelph (BCG) organized an event to celebrate Bengali New Year -1423, ‘Pohela Baishakh’ on the 16th April 2016 at the College Heights School, Guelph. Mr. Cam Guthrie, The Mayor of the City of Guelph, delivered a speech of greetings at the event. The event, resumed at 6pm and continued until 11pm, was marked by the spirit of friendship, enthusiasm, hope, unity and prosperity among members of the community. More than 150 participants celebrated the event over a cultural program, informal discussion and networking. In the event, the community members rejoiced a traditional fair of clothes, ornaments and foods. The event concluded with a ‘community dinner’ that included fifteen traditional Bangla food dishes. In this occasion, BCG published a colorful directory based on designs, ideas and inspirations of the community members

 

IMLD 21 February 2016

An event was organized by families and friends of Bangladeshi Community in Guelph on the 21st February 2016. We have received about 70 participants in the event. Your participation matters to us!! In the event, we embraced the International Mother Language Day (IMLD) and endorsed one of its relevant theme ‘ building, bonding and bearing community circles through culture and language’. In a cultural event and exhibition of cultural artifacts, community members had an opportunity to exchange their thoughts and experiences, especially between different generations.

 

Community members shared their experience about the event. We have received enthusiastic feedback from many community members. They have cherished for a community platform which caters for ‘innovative ideas’ ‘collective ownership’, ‘mutual respect’ and ‘inclusive community circles’
